We will read several texts in full this semester:

• Mary Shelley, Frankenstein (1818)*
• Kimberly Belflower, John Proctor is the Villain (2022)
• Karel Čapek., R.U.R. (1920)
• Lino Arrudo, Monstrans (2021)*

There are also various journal articles, book chapters, and online material to read throughout the semester. We require that you either print out the material or use a stylus and a tablet to take notes on the material. Be sure to bring the day’s reading to class. We will also screen videos and other media throughout the semester.

Be aware that some material we study this semester may disturb you. We will encounter scenes of violence, body horror, explicit language, and sexual content.
